📋 Description

• Develop and maintain the communications calendar • Support a consistent messaging framework across stakeholder groups • Write and produce plain-language, bilingual English and Spanish, Section 508-compliant FAQs, fact sheets, web content, presentations and other materials • Communicate program changes, analytics-informed reforms and fiscal initiatives • Contribute to quarterly stakeholder feedback summaries • Contribute to the annual stakeholder experience summary report • Coordinate with the client's communications staff and third-party vendors • Keep stakeholder communications aligned • Support a developmental disabilities stakeholder experience engagement for a state health and human services agency client

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English or Marketing • 5+ years of professional communications experience, including at least 3 years in government, Medicaid, health or human services communications • Professional fluency in English and Spanish, written and spoken • Ability to write original Spanish-language content rather than only translate • Demonstrated Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA remediation experience for Word, PowerPoint, PDF and web content • Plain-language writing for public audiences; portfolio or writing samples will be requested • Experience developing communications strategies and calendars for a public agency or large program • Available to start in December 2026 and work during Maryland business hours (ET) • Able to travel occasionally to Baltimore, Maryland • U.S. work authorization; sponsorship is not available • Independent of direct service providers funded by the client agency • Preferred: experience communicating with people with disabilities and their families • Preferred: Maryland state agency experience • Preferred: graphic and web production skills, including Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Drupal or similar
