📋 Description

• Respond to patient inquiries about account balances, statements, and charges by phone, email, and secure messaging • Explain insurance coverage and benefits, including deductibles, copays, coinsurance, explanations of benefits, and patient responsibility • Collect patient payments and follow up on outstanding patient accounts • Set up, document, and monitor payment plans; follow up on missed or late payments • Process medical records requests, verifying authorization and following HIPAA requirements • Collaborate with billing, accounts receivable, and other revenue cycle teams to resolve account issues and escalate complex cases • Document every patient interaction in the billing system • Identify recurring inquiry trends and help improve statements, communications, and processes • Protect patient privacy and follow HIPAA and company compliance standards

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting • Experience in Sleep Medicine and/or DME billing strongly preferred • Experience in collections, including patient balance collections • Experience in a customer service role, including handling sensitive or frustrated callers with patience and professionalism • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to research and resolve account issues independently • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple accounts, deadlines, and follow-ups • Comfort with technology, including billing and practice management systems, email, and spreadsheets, and the ability to learn new tools quickly • Good people skills: empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help patients • Working knowledge of HIPAA and patient privacy requirements • Genuine interest in sleep, health, and helping people better understand and improve their well-being • Spanish-speaking (bilingual English/Spanish) is a plus
