📋 Description

• Translate scopes of work into technical tasks and Jira issues for project team assignments • Explore data and evaluate its sufficiency for data science tasks • Distill insights from data exploration and modeling into meaningful, actionable client work products • Develop statistical and machine learning models and validate model performance • Collaborate on developing and maintaining data science pipelines for repeated execution • Manage code repositories and conduct code reviews • Communicate with clients and internal stakeholders throughout the data science project lifecycle • Identify data sources that support data science solutions to utility industry problems • Collaborate with utility domain experts, software engineers, and machine learning engineers • Build models for integration into production software serving utility clients • Work on customer energy usage modeling across time and weather conditions • Detect usage of grid-impacting customer end uses • Estimate impacts of utility-managed programs and services

🎯 Requirements

• Master’s degree or PhD in a technical field such as statistics, economics, mathematics, or electrical engineering • Proficiency in R or Python (fluency in both preferred) • Experience applying data science methods to proof-of-concept and operational support projects in a professional environment • Strong understanding of statistical and machine learning model families • Experience with generalized linear models, time series approaches, penalized regression models, tree-based ensemble models, neural network models, or natural language processing techniques • Self-starter who thrives in team-based, collaborative projects • Ability to provide an excellent customer experience throughout a project’s lifecycle • Ability to simplify complex analyses for management and operations stakeholders • Clear and confident communication and presentation skills • Experience using Databricks, particularly PySpark, preferred • Professional experience in the utility or energy sector preferred • Familiarity with customer and distribution grid data models preferred • Familiarity with AWS and Azure preferred • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the US or Canada • Unable to require or receive employment visa or LMIA sponsorship
