📋 Description

• Accurately abstract data into appropriate client electronic medical record systems • Follow Official ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS Guidelines for Coding, UHDDS guidelines, and CMS directives • Perform data entry of required abstracted patient information into the client’s information system • Assign Present on Admission (POA) indicators according to AHA POA guidelines • Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS codes to inpatient accounts according to designated workflow • Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistical and reporting requirements • Assign discharge dispositions • Query physicians to clarify conflicting, imprecise, incomplete, ambiguous, and/or inconsistent clinical information • Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to appropriate personnel for follow-up and resolution • Communicate with Clinical Documentation Improvement and/or Revenue Cycle teams for follow-up and account reconciliation • Maintain required productivity and quality requirements • Maintain coding credential requirements

🎯 Requirements

• Must possess an approved AHIMA or AAPC coding credential • 3+ years of inpatient coding in an acute care setting • Experience with Inpatient and SDS/OBS along with ED and ancillary coding • Experience with extensive spinal procedures, including complex spinal fusions, revisions, hardware removal/replacement, interbody procedures, decompressions, and related grafting • Experience with general surgery and wound care • Level 1 Trauma/Academic setting experience is preferred • Proficient in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding • 3+ years of experience coding within the US • Legally authorized to work in the United States • Visa sponsorship is not available • Integrity, passion, and ethics • Strong collaboration skills • Strong analytic and problem-solving abilities and techniques • Consistent initiative with strong drive for results and success • Commitment to a team environment • Excellent interpersonal skills • Well-developed written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, including deep listening and attention to detail • Ability to self-motivate and self-direct • Strong time management and organizational skills • Commitment and adherence to company Core Values • High level of integrity and ethical judgment • Communication • Consistency and reliability • Meeting standards
