📋 Description

• Own Elicit's scholarly search and data platform, including coverage, freshness, quality, reliability, and cost • Translate customer and business needs into technical plans with product, sales, and partners • Bring new evidence sources into Elicit for LLM-based features while preserving structure, citations, and provenance • Build secure, rights-aware integrations for enterprise customers and content partners • Translate access, privacy, isolation, and auditability requirements into product behavior • Take features from loose brief to production across frontend, backend, and data layers • Ship small slices with staged rollouts, monitoring, and rollback plans • Operate what you build, monitor usage, and manage integration complexity • Build product features beyond integrations and make the data platform easy for engineers to use • Use coding agents daily and review their output carefully

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience • Production systems ownership and independently made architecture decisions • Strong Python; live coding is included in interviews • Working knowledge of TypeScript; React is a plus • Experience designing, debugging, and tuning distributed data pipelines • Spark or comparable distributed-systems experience • Solid SQL • Practical knowledge of partitioning, joins, columnar formats, and data layout impacts on performance and cost • Experience integrating messy external data, including APIs, bulk exports, file drops, changing schemas, rate limits, partial failures, and overlapping records • Care for data quality, entity resolution, provenance, and observability • Experience shipping user-facing features end to end • Product judgment connecting infrastructure work to researcher capabilities • At least one year at an early- or growth-stage company • Clear communication with engineers and non-engineers • Pragmatic use of coding agents without quality loss • Comfortable traveling for quarterly in-person offsites • Ability to work with time zone overlap between GMT and GMT-8
