📋 Description

• Investigate and evaluate SIU referrals of moderate to high complexity, including organized ring activity • Review claim, underwriting and premium audit files relevant to referrals • Contact departments, insureds, claimants, witnesses, vendors, carriers, attorneys, law enforcement and other parties to obtain information • Research background information, public records, claims history and social media • Take statements from insureds, claimants, witnesses and other relevant parties • Document special investigative handling and activity • Conduct field investigations and review investigation facts • Attend examinations under oath and depositions • Review bills, invoices, receipts and other documentation for legitimacy and accuracy • Track investigation trends and patterns involving organized ring activity • Provide investigation status updates to internal teams, agents, defense counsel and law enforcement • Identify, investigate and pursue recovery or restitution opportunities • Analyze investigative data and evidence and formulate recommendations for claim or policy handling • Prepare special reports and written summaries of investigative data • Communicate investigative activities and evidence supporting or exonerating potential fraud • Prepare documentation meeting state anti-fraud reporting requirements • Prepare evidence packets for civil litigation or criminal prosecution • Develop and deliver internal and external anti-fraud training and educational materials • Collaborate on SIU marketing strategies and implement assigned strategies • Participate in establishing SIU investigation policies, standards, practices, techniques and procedures • Maintain active involvement in professional industry associations

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, insurance, criminal justice or related field or equivalent relevant experience • Five years of claims adjusting, investigation or insurance experience or related experience • Prior property and casualty experience preferred • Fraud Claim Law Specialist (FCLS) designation within the first year of hire • Insurance designations, such as INS or AIC, preferred • Strong knowledge of the investigative process, including proper identification and collection of physical evidence • Strong knowledge of civil and criminal investigative procedures and the legal system • Strong knowledge of statement-taking techniques and collection and analysis of public and private records • Good knowledge of the property and casualty insurance industry and fraud awareness preferred • Strong investigative skills and sound decision-making ability • Conflict resolution, negotiation and facilitation abilities • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including file documentation and report writing • Good knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Suite • Attendance of the National Insurance Crime Bureau SIU Academy within the first two years of hire • Occasional travel • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if driving
