📋 Description

• Implement and maintain a compliance plan for outpatient coding and reimbursement • Assist the Coding Manager with Outpatient and Emergency Coding Services • Develop policies and procedures • Develop education and supervise programs regarding HIM compliance, documentation, and accurate coding • Coordinate and conduct continual reviews, tracking, and trending following outpatient coding audits • Educate new outpatient coders on documentation requirements and outpatient surgery coding • Educate coders on ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS, coding conventions, Coding Clinics, and CPT Assistant guidance • Conduct coding quality reviews to assure accurate codes, APC assignment, and reimbursement • Summarize quality monitoring results for performance appraisals and process improvement • Research and respond to outpatient coding questions • Work the daily unbilled report to ensure timely coding • Review audit results with associates and conduct follow-up reviews • Liaise with the PFS department to resolve outpatient coding review requests

🎯 Requirements

• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification required • Minimum 4 years’ experience with coding ICD-10 in an acute care setting • 2 years of experience performing APC coding audits • Knowledge of APC and grouping methodologies, particularly diagnosis/procedure APC assignment • Basic computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet utilization • Excellent interpersonal skills • Excellent prioritization and organizational skills • Applicants must be physically located and authorized to work in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, or Wisconsin • Ability to meet physical demands including lifting up to 50 lbs and carrying objects up to 25 lbs • Use of personal protective equipment may be required; travel may be required
