📋 Description

• Serve as a hands-on technical expert and solution architecture contributor for Empower’s cloud and data architecture • Partner with enterprise architects, senior architects, business leaders, IT teams, and the Innovation Lab • Shape solution architectures aligned to a unified IT data strategy • Document target-state architectures, reference architectures, and key dependencies • Design and support modernization and migration of complex systems to scalable, secure, cost-optimized cloud architectures • Work with delivery teams through implementation • Evaluate and prototype new technologies and applications, including Generative AI and Advanced Analytics • Provide input into business cases and recommendations • Apply and operationalize architectural standards, best practices, and governance expectations • Collaborate with business and engineering teams on end-to-end solutions • Provide architectural guidance in process design, system orchestration, and enterprise integration • Champion security, resilience, and scalability across data platforms and solutions • Produce reusable patterns, decision documentation, and lessons learned • Support full-stack development teams through solution design and implementation

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience • At least 5 years of experience delivering data-intensive solutions • At least 1 year of demonstrated solution design ownership for moderately complex initiatives • Proven experience in multiple data-focused roles, including data engineering, ETL/ELT, data architecture, database administration, BI or analytics engineering, data science, or data governance • Competency in architecture frameworks, performance optimization, availability, caching, monitoring, scalability, and security • Strong expertise in data and cloud architecture; AWS preferred • Experience with systems such as Snowflake or Redshift • Ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights and reporting solutions • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience • Data engineering experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, orchestration, data quality controls, and batch/near real-time workloads • Streaming and event-driven data experience with Kafka or Kinesis • API and integration experience, including API governance, versioning, security, and event-driven integration • Data platform modernization experience with Spark or comparable distributed compute • Data security and privacy experience, including encryption, masking/tokenization, access controls, and auditability • Cloud cost and performance experience, including FinOps, workload rightsizing, storage optimization, and performance engineering • DevOps for data experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and Kubernetes or EKS • Applied AI and GenAI experience with retrieval, evaluation, monitoring, and responsible AI patterns • Broad polyglot engineering experience with Java, microservices, and third-party API integrations • Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect are a differentiator • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; no employment visa sponsorship or takeover of sponsorship available • Reliable high-speed wired internet and a suitable home workspace required for remote work
