• Recruit, present, and sell the ERIE Agency Career to prospective Agents and producers • Select, hire, train, and develop new independent Agents into self-supporting company representatives • Influence independent Agents to sell ERIE products and services • Train Agents on products, underwriting, servicing, and Agency operations • Oversee Policyholder, Agent, and claimant complaints and inquiries • Address underperforming Agents with the branch manager and enforce contractual performance • Maintain expertise in ERIE commercial, personal, and life products, IT tools, and sales resources • Support adoption and management of underwriting and technology tools, policies, plans, and objectives • Provide local input for rate reviews • Serve as Agents’ direct link to the company and provide communications about initiatives and changes • Act as a field underwriter for extraordinary property and casualty risks within binding authority limits • Resolve Agent sales and customer service problems with branch and home office staff • Implement customer service, marketing, sales, and underwriting best practices at Agency level • Sponsor and manage sales contests, promotions, and incentives • Sell ERIE products and services as a licensed, non-commission company Agent • Help Agents identify and solve Agency-level sales and marketing problems • Develop and implement Agency and district business plans and budgets • Achieve annual P/C and EFL sales, profitability, and market-share objectives • Assess Agency performance trends and conduct reviews of underwriting, profitability, and compliance results • Partner with Agents on corrective action when necessary
• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent of four years of sales, underwriting, claims, or marketing experience, required • Three years of sales, underwriting, claims, or marketing experience, or participation in the DSM Training Program, required • Must live in the assigned territory unless a company-approved change is granted • Understanding of and commitment to ERIE’s 'Above All in Service' philosophy • Extensive local travel, including overnight stays, required • Proficiency with spreadsheet, word processing, and email software • Related industry designations such as CIC, CPCU, or CLU preferred • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required • Ability to perform frequent driving and occasional lifting, moving, pushing, pulling, climbing, and computer use
