📋 Description

• Exercise independent discretion or judgment in handling property claims within designated authority • Service the assigned territory and handle litigated claims when required • Contact policyholders regarding property claims • Conduct investigations and interview insureds and witnesses • Inspect property damage and prepare estimates • Evaluate coverage and make recommendations • Set and maintain adequate claim reserves • Obtain and review reports, statements, records, and related materials • Determine claim payments and issue checks or decline payment as required • Document claim files and submit final reports for closure • Identify subrogation situations and initiate appropriate action • Bring assigned claims to conclusion • Interact with agents and district sales managers • Negotiate with plaintiff attorneys or coordinate litigation with defense counsel • Develop and apply knowledge of estimating practices and procedures for property claims • Attend industry-related and other training sessions • Successfully complete Technical Learning Center Training within one year of hire • Participate on the Catastrophe Team when required • Maintain regular and predictable attendance • Conduct daily property inspections from a home office while traveling throughout the assigned territory

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent • High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of ERIE-sponsored formal education • Bachelor’s Degree • Incumbent must live in the assigned territory unless a change is approved by the company • Ability to drive/travel regularly within the assigned territory • Position requires catastrophe duty, including possible short-notice travel to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks • Willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training • Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 preferred • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting-aide equipment • Ability to climb/access heights • Ability to drive frequently • Ability to lift/move 0–20 lbs and 20–50 lbs • Manual keying, data entry, information inputting, and computer use • Ability to push/pull/move wheeled objects and equipment • Good time management and organization skills preferred
