📋 Description

• Exercise independent discretion or judgment in handling property claims within designated authority • Service assigned territory and handle litigated claims when needed • Contact policyholders regarding property claims • Conduct investigations, interview insureds and witnesses, inspect damage, and prepare estimates • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding claim coverage • Handle claims within designated authority, set and maintain adequate reserves, and determine claim payments • Obtain and review reports, statements, records, and related materials • Issue checks or decline payment as required • Document claim files and submit final reports for closure • Identify subrogation situations and initiate appropriate action • Bring assigned claims to conclusion • Interact with agents and district sales managers • Negotiate with plaintiff attorneys or coordinate litigation with defense counsel as required • Develop and apply knowledge of property-claim estimating practices and procedures • Attend industry-related and other training sessions • Successfully complete Technical Learning Center Training within one year of hire • Participate on the Catastrophe Team when required

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required • High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of ERIE sponsored formal education • Bachelor’s Degree required • Incumbent must live in territory assigned unless a change is approved by the company • Ability to drive/travel regularly within the assigned territory • Position requires catastrophe duty, including possible short-notice travel to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks • Willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training required • Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 preferred • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment • Ability to climb/access heights occasionally • Frequent driving ability • Manual keying/data entry/computer use • Good time management and organization skills preferred
