📋 Description

• Establish immediate contact with policyholders and claimants • Conduct extensive investigations into the causes and origins of major property claims • Interview insureds, claimants and other parties as required • Inspect property damage, review information, prepare estimates, evaluate coverage and negotiate settlements • Set and maintain adequate reserves • Determine the extent of property damage, liability and total claim value • Develop estimates and obtain agreed scopes of work and repair costs with contractors and/or policyholders • Determine claim values as they apply to coverage • Determine steps necessary to initiate property-loss investigations • Use outside experts and attorneys as required • Document claim files and submit final closure reports • Assign and supervise independent adjusters when necessary • Advise claims adjusters on claim handling • Conduct training for field-office claims personnel • Attend industry-related training to remain current on legal developments and regulatory compliance • Maintain relationships with local, state and regional organizations and agencies • Coordinate Catastrophe Team activities at catastrophe sites • Provide 24-hour availability for emergency claims service • Travel on short notice to catastrophe locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks when required

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and five years of claims handling experience, with up to two years of equivalent experience substitutable • Bachelor’s Degree and three years of claims handling experience, with up to two years of equivalent experience substitutable • Working knowledge of Windows software • Ability to drive/travel regularly within the assigned territory • Willingness to work in harsh conditions, including bad weather and severely damaged buildings • Availability for Catastrophe Team travel on short notice, potentially exceeding two consecutive weeks • 24-hour availability for emergency claims service • Appropriate license as required by state • Valid driver's license and good driving record • Successful completion of Introduction to Claims (AIC 30) and AIC 35 preferred • Ability to use required personal protective equipment • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting-aide equipment • Ability to climb/access heights • Ability to drive frequently • Ability to lift/move 0–20 lbs and 20–50 lbs • Ability to perform manual keying, data entry and computer use • Ability to push, pull and move wheeled objects and equipment
