• Exercise independent discretion and judgment in handling large commercial and personal property claims assignments in the designated region • Investigate or direct investigation of commercial property claims • Interview insureds, claimants and others as required • Inspect property damage and review information to prepare estimates • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding claim coverage • Determine liability and total claim value and negotiate settlements • Determine available coverage and ERIE’s liability; identify subrogation potential • Arrange repairs for insured losses • Settle losses and maintain complete file documentation • Communicate with insureds and agents regarding settlement or adjustment • Direct the activity of necessary experts • Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures with the department manager • Analyze regional and branch performance and recommend changes to management • Assist in training new employees and property claims specialists • Coordinate catastrophe teams with regional CAT coordinators • Serve as a consultant to branch offices on commercial property claims
• High school diploma or GED required • Bachelor’s degree preferred • Seven years experience in property adjusting required • Working knowledge of Windows software required • Must be willing to obtain and maintain necessary licenses • Appropriate license as required by state • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required • AIC designation or CPCU 3 or 4 preferred • Must serve on the Catastrophe Team, including possible short-notice travel to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks • Ability to drive/travel regularly within the assigned territory • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required • Ability to lift/move 0–20 lbs and 20–50 lbs; ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment • Ability to climb/access heights • Regular and predictable attendance required • Excellent time management and organization skills preferred
