📋 Description

• Coordinate threat management services and manage referrals involving students with potential violence risk factors • Assess, manage, and monitor student behavioral and safety risks • Develop and implement student support management plans, discipline interventions, and crisis support plans • Track case management services and follow-up interventions in students’ homes, schools, and communities • Provide consultation, in-service training, and professional development to school and district staff • Collaborate with stakeholders to determine threat levels and provide behavioral, discipline, and threat-management data • Complete mandated district, state, federal, and educational-agency reporting • Collect and summarize discipline records, behavioral data, threat-management data, and student history • Coordinate information sharing with sending and receiving school districts • Maintain documentation for support plans, interventions, and services • Build relationships with parents and students through regular communication • Review discipline and threat-management records during enrollment • Lead implementation of school-wide behavior policies • Coordinate with law enforcement and community partners on school safety concerns and security-related incidents • Investigate serious disciplinary incidents, including threats, harassment, and violence • Update the Student Code of Conduct with stakeholder feedback, legal updates, and best practices • Serve on school- or district-based threat assessment teams and potentially serve as chair or District Threat Management Coordinator • Provide crisis intervention services with Student Services • Serve as the primary contact between parents and Florida Virtual School regarding behavior and threat management • Research resources and best practices to improve student discipline and school climate • Investigate violations of the Student Code of Conduct and coordinate disciplinary responses • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings about students’ mental health and behavioral needs • Meet professional obligations, deadlines, schedules, and coordination responsibilities • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Behavioral Health Sciences, Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field • Valid Florida Professional Teaching Certificate preferred • Three years of experience working in an educational setting, law enforcement, or a related field • Three years of experience working with adolescents with mental health, social-emotional, or behavioral concerns preferred • Threat management, threat assessment, and/or school-discipline experience preferred • Knowledge of threat assessment, crisis response, and de-escalation strategies • Knowledge of student code of conduct and SESIR • Ability to work on-call, including evenings and weekends as needed • Ability to travel occasionally among district facilities • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities • Ability to maintain confidentiality • Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations • Knowledge of state and federal education guidelines • Competence analyzing and assessing students’ mental-health needs • Competence analyzing and assessing threat and risk levels • Knowledge of behavioral management techniques and community mental-health resources • Ability to collect, summarize, and graph behavioral, discipline, and threat-management data • Understanding and experience with emotional behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and developmental delays • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and publication skills • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and coordination skills • Ability to develop collaborative relationships with students, parents, and staff • Proficiency with required and recommended FLVS computer applications • Ability to work effectively with diverse, multicultural, and interdisciplinary staff
