📋 Description

• Determines medical necessity and level of care guidelines using InterQual criteria for admissions • Understands admission, concurrent stay, level-of-care, and criteria subsets • Ensures compliance with EMTALA/COBRA regulations for transfers from outside facilities • Participates in staff educational programs, approved continuing education courses, and specialized skill training programs • Works with acute Clinical Resource Coordinators to identify potentially difficult cases and coordinate discharge planning upon admission • Queries admitting physicians to determine medical necessity or appropriate level of care • Directs physicians to alternative levels of care, including skilled care, nursing home, or outpatient services • Coordinates appropriate bed placement with Patient Care Services and the Bed Coordinator • Performs other duties as assigned or requested

🎯 Requirements

• 3 years in general or specialty nursing practice • Diploma, Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree from accredited RN program • Current and unrestricted Louisiana RN license
