📋 Description

• Design and perform QA/QC reviews for substation and protection and control systems up to 500kV • Develop and revise one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, grounding plans, physical arrangement drawings, control and relay panel layouts, and equipment interconnection drawings • Perform grounding, lightning/shielding, voltage drop, and other engineering calculations • Integrate protection and control systems with substation physical layouts and electrical equipment • Develop control and relay panel specifications, bills of materials, and project criteria documents • Design and size AC and DC auxiliary systems, batteries and chargers, backup generators, conduit, and cable systems • Perform point-to-point checks and coordinate system integration activities • Review junior staff deliverables for compliance with client standards and design requirements • Develop or facilitate greenfield and brownfield designs for electric utility and power generation projects • Perform engineering studies, feasibility assessments, and site evaluations • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and deliver projects on schedule and within budget • Collaborate with utility, independent power producer, industrial, and energy-sector clients on goals, technical requirements, constraints, and regulatory compliance • Use design software to prepare detailed engineering designs, plans, and construction documents • Manage multiple projects with minimal guidance while serving as a technical resource • Lead project execution, quality control, schedule management, and client satisfaction • Perform complex engineering design tasks, delegate routine assignments, and provide technical oversight to junior staff • Support project pursuits, proposal development, scope definition, and client relationship management • Participate in site visits, field investigations, construction support, and project meetings • Develop job site visit safety plans and follow GAI and client safety requirements • Assign tasks, plan and coordinate engineering work, and prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules • Mentor direct reports and other engineers • Keep informed of standards, regulations, and best practices • Analyze complex engineering projects, risks, design requirements, uncertainties, and constraints

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of related experience • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering; Bachelors or better in Engineering or related field • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states • Experience supporting multidisciplinary teams in utility, energy, industrial, and power generation projects from inception to completion • Familiarity with SRP, APS, and TEP engineering standards, permitting requirements, and design practices • Strong proficiency in engineering design software • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices • Ability to independently evaluate, select, and adapt standard techniques, procedures, and criteria • Ability to prepare plans, specifications, scopes, budgets, schedules, and project documents • Knowledge of NESC, industry best practices, environmental regulations, safety requirements, engineering economics, probability and statistics • Advanced oral and written communication skills, including interpretation of complex technical and contractual language • Ability to lead project meetings, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage multiple projects, and provide technical oversight • Ability to travel to project sites, client offices, and other GAI offices as needed; approximately 10%–20% local/regional travel
