• Provide writing, editing, and communications support for the OPTN patient safety and compliance program • Technically edit, copyedit, and proofread contract deliverables including plans, SOPs, reports, meeting summaries, and training materials • Ensure consistency in style, tone, terminology, and formatting across documents and presentations • Apply federal Plain Language Guidelines and HRSA/OPTN style and branding requirements • Review documents for clarity, logical flow, program alignment, and regulatory context • Collaborate with technical leads to resolve ambiguities and strengthen key messages • Develop and maintain editorial standards, templates, and checklists • Review and refine slide decks, briefing documents, talking points, and materials for OPTN committees, Board, and workgroups • Ensure meeting materials communicate goals, decisions, and background information for intended audiences • Check materials for accuracy, completeness, confidentiality, redaction, and sensitive-information requirements • Coordinate review and finalization timelines for committee and Board meetings • Draft, edit, and format public-facing content about committee activities, membership, accomplishments, and policy or program updates • Prepare de-identified public meeting summaries and materials for the OPTN website • Serve as the primary day-to-day liaison between the project team and HRSA/OPTN communications staff • Route draft public materials for COR and HRSA/OPTN communications review and written approval • Track HRSA communications requests and coordinate timely responses with subject matter experts • Maintain documentation of approvals, branding guidance, and communications SOPs • Work with project managers, committee operations staff, analysts, and subject matter experts • Support visually clear, accessible charts, tables, and graphics aligned with Section 508 • Recommend improvements to templates, workflows, review processes, project plans, and tracking tools
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Public Health, Public Policy, Health Administration, Journalism, or a related field • 5+ years of experience in technical editing, communications, or similar roles supporting complex programs or projects • Experience working with or supporting federal agencies, healthcare, public health, or regulatory/compliance environments is strongly preferred • Prior experience supporting leadership, committee, or board-level communications is a plus • Demonstrated ability to edit complex, technical content for clarity, consistency, and readability while preserving accuracy • Ability to translate technical and regulatory concepts into clear, accessible language • Exceptional accuracy in grammar, formatting, and content review • Familiarity with, or ability to quickly learn, federal plain language requirements, branding guidelines, and restrictions on lobbying and advertising • Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), SharePoint/Teams, and virtual meeting platforms • Experience preparing accessible Section 508 documents is preferred • Ability to manage multiple concurrent deadlines and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment • US citizenship is not required • No security clearance is required
