📋 Description

• Defend arbitrations and lawsuits filed in New Jersey and handle other first-party insurance defense matters • Research laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions and memoranda • Render opinions on coverage, medical necessity/causation, damages and value as requested by the Claims Department • Prepare and handle arbitration submissions and examinations under oath • Defend assigned matters by trial or dispositive hearing, as applicable • Travel to trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings and conferences as required

🎯 Requirements

• 2 to 6+ years of experience in litigation • Juris Doctor degree REQUIRED • Admission to the New Jersey Bar REQUIRED • Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in New Jersey • Must meet and maintain licensing requirements, including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements where applicable • Must be able to travel as required, including to attend trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings and conferences • Must be able to document files in a clear, concise, professional written manner • Must be able to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution • Strong organization, priority-setting and multitasking skills • Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information • Civil litigation experience preferred • Insurance defense-related litigation experience and/or personal injury experience preferred • Must be able to communicate professionally in person, by telephone and in written correspondence/email • At this time, GEICO will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position
