• Execute all technical aspects of AC power substation projects under the guidance of a Lead Engineer • Develop high-voltage substation general arrangements and layouts, plan and elevation drawings, bills of material, high-voltage bus arrangements, cable and wiring arrangements, grounding designs, and control building designs • Perform related engineering calculations • Coordinate overall design with other design disciplines • Provide basic single-line drawings and schematics, relay protection, and control requirements • Write high-voltage equipment specifications and issue material purchase request forms • Evaluate vendor quotations for substation equipment, including circuit breakers, switchgear, disconnects, power transformers, cable, and protection and control systems • Collaborate with engineers and designers, sourcing, and project teams to meet project specifications, cost control, and schedule objectives • Interface with Principal Engineers, Protection and Control Engineers, Electrical Designers, Physical Designers, Draftsmen, Project Managers, and support organizations • Develop and review proposal technical specifications • Estimate materials and support sourcing for vendor quotations • Direct designers and draftsmen on drawing requirements • Develop clarifications, exceptions, and technical responses
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college (BSEE preferred) • At least 1 year of experience in Transmission & Distribution substation engineering • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%, including international travel • Professional Engineer license, or willingness to take necessary exams to register and become a licensed PE • Knowledge of IEEE and ANSI standards and codes such as the NEC and NESC • Working knowledge of design calculations for primary and secondary equipment, including battery sizing, DC system component selection, power transformer and circuit breaker selection, circuit protection, cable selection and rating, bus and fittings selection, insulator and arrester selection, ground grid design, and lightning protection • Understanding of civil engineering and substation-related structural design requirements • Field-testing and commissioning experience with safe work habits • Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capability • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously • Excellent personal computer skills, including programming and design automation • Familiarity with AutoCAD, BIM, and Revit strongly desired • Effective communication and interpersonal skills • Legally authorized to work in the United States • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
