• Lead technical review and response for complex VFD systems/STATCOM/Synchronous condenser tenders • Prepare detailed technical cost estimates covering equipment, site-specific requirements, materials, labor, and contingencies • Conduct remote or physical site surveys to assess infrastructure, integration challenges, and project constraints • Develop system architectures for VFD systems/STATCOM/Synchronous condenser integration across the extended balance of plant • Apply value engineering to optimize technical solutions for cost-effectiveness while maintaining performance and tender compliance • Translate customer functional and technical requirements into system designs and specifications, including interfaces, control logic, protection schemes, and communication protocols • Provide costing input for interfaces, integration components, and third-party equipment • Collaborate with sales and commercial teams to define technical scope, assess risks, and support negotiations • Define and manage technical interfaces with OEMs and sub-suppliers • Solicit technical data and cost inputs from sub-suppliers for tender proposals • Identify and mitigate technical, logistical, and cost-related risks during the tender phase • Present technical solutions to customers, consultants, and internal stakeholders • Contribute to internal technical standards, tools, and best practices using lessons learned from tender outcomes
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college • Minimum 10 years of experience relevant to the role • Experience in project engineering, application engineering, or technical sales support for high-power electrical equipment, especially VFD systems/STATCOM/Synchronous condenser • In-depth knowledge of power electronics, power system dynamics, grid codes, and international standards relevant to VFD systems/STATCOM/Synchronous condenser applications • Experience working on large-scale EPC tenders and understanding of extended Balance of Plant (BOP) scope in power plants, renewable energy, or heavy industrial facilities • Practical understanding of how site constraints and procedures impact overall project cost • Strong understanding of control systems, communication protocols, and network architectures • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and P&IDs, and accurately extrapolate costing information • Experience with cost estimation methodologies, quotation preparation, and supporting technical-commercial negotiations for complex electrical systems • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time • Legally authorized to work in the United States • Master's degree is desired • P.Eng. or equivalent professional engineering license is desired
