📋 Description

• Own the complete civil scope from proposal concepts through detailed design, construction, project closeout, and documentation delivery • Support HVDC, high-voltage substation, and FACTS projects • Manage subcontracted civil and structural design work, including industrial multi-story steel building design • Support conceptual designs, estimates, and tender documents for civil scope • Define contracting strategies and develop competitive civil design and construction pricing • Develop technical scopes of work, responsibility divisions, schedules, and construction cost estimates • Analyze subcontractors and consortium partners for sourcing negotiations • Ensure civil design concepts address customer scope, permitting requirements, and local codes and laws • Coordinate constructability review feedback and optimize designs • Manage civil construction scope and coordinate with civil subcontractors and consortium partners • Track and document changes to scope, schedules, and budgets • Issue subcontracts with EHS, Quality, Planning, Contract Management, and Sourcing support • Integrate customer EHS requirements into project-specific procedures • Manage civil design and construction risks, opportunities, cost deviations, and overruns • Lead the structural design team and ensure timely preparation of specifications, designs, BOQs, material lists, and site-work data • Track and transmit project documentation through designated document-management systems • Coach, develop, mentor, and train team members • Demonstrate EHS leadership, implement the STOP WORK POLICY, participate in Gemba walks, and lead EHS improvement initiatives • Manage non-conformances and comply with quality procedures • Track engineering and business KPIs • Support site procedures and provide engineering field support to meet customer and GE GSI standards

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering • Professional Engineering License (PE) in the United States in Civil or Structural Engineering • At least 10 years of experience in engineering, procuring, and constructing large-capital high-voltage substations, FACTS, and HVDC projects from a civil engineering perspective • Understanding of substation design principles and their impact on civil and structural designs • Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% of the time, including occasional international travel • Compliance with GE travel regulations • Structural design experience with steel and concrete buildings, non-building structures, electrical substations, equipment support structures, deep and shallow foundations, building services, and site works • Strong understanding of IBC, IEBC, ASCE, IEEE, ACI, and AISC design codes • Understanding of architectural, electrical, and mechanical design requirements • Proficiency with Bentley STAAD.Pro, RISA, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, MathCAD or TEDDS, and MS Excel • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification • Strong English verbal and written communication skills • Experience overseeing and managing civil design and construction subcontractors • Effective communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work in a team environment • Ability to lead a team and be accountable for team results • Ability to work independently while multitasking • Legally authorized to work in the United States • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
