📋 Description

• Provide senior nonclinical safety and toxicologic pathology expertise for pharmaceutical R&D • Support screening, IND-enabling and development studies in rodent and non-rodent species • Work directly on drug development project teams • Interact with Regulatory Authorities and support regulatory submissions • Apply innovative, flexible and critical thinking to R&D pathobiology • Resolve issues and communicate scientific opinions and knowledge with internal colleagues and external partners • Mentor and motivate people in matrix and/or line organizations • Lead and delegate effectively • Apply modern pathology laboratory technologies, including assay development, application and interpretation

🎯 Requirements

• DVM or MD, with a PhD in a relevant biological discipline and 8+ years of relevant experience • Recognized board certification in anatomic pathology • At least 5+ years of toxicologic pathology experience in a pharmaceutical R&D environment • Experience with screening, IND-enabling and development studies in rodent and non-rodent species • Demonstrated issue-resolution experience • High level of understanding of the drug discovery, development and regulatory process • Experience working directly on drug development project teams and Regulatory Authority interactions and submissions • Demonstrated innovative, flexible and critical thinking applied to R&D pathobiology • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to project opinions and knowledge with confidence, authority, respect and diplomacy when interacting with Gilead colleagues and external partners • Excellent leadership and delegation skills demonstrated by successfully mentoring and motivating people in a matrix and/or line organization • Working knowledge of modern pathology laboratory technologies, including assay development, application and interpretation • Preferred: experience of translational/clinical biomarker and/or research pathology in a pharmaceutical R&D environment • Preferred: experience of molecular pathology assay development (IHC, ISH, RNASeq, qPCR, LCM), data integration and analysis, image analysis and interpretation
