📋 Description

• Lead end-to-end technical program delivery during emergency response activations, including scoping, requirements gathering, system configuration and implementation, QA and testing, troubleshooting, and closeout • Collaborate with Product, Tech, Research, Engineering, Data, Payments, and Programs teams • Ensure systems meet data protection, privacy, and financial control standards • Manage technical training and onboarding for surge staff, collaborators, and local partners • Maintain and improve technical documentation, deployment guides, and incident-response protocols • Develop product roadmaps and requirements with Programs and Engineering and implement improvements for scalability and reliability • Track and report technical readiness metrics such as uptime, deployment speed, integration failures, data quality, and testing coverage • Lead and document technical design and implementation retrospectives, lessons learned, and root cause analyses • Support assessment, evaluation, testing, and adoption of new products and solutions • Support risk assessments and mitigate risks involving connectivity, data loss, device theft, fraud, and system misuse • Contribute to incident reviews and improve safety and resilience protocols • Provide surge capacity and work across multiple timezones during activations according to on-call schedules • Report to the Senior Product Manager, Solutioning, Emergency Cash

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience • Experience managing timelines, operational risk, stakeholders, and complex deliverables across multiple workstreams • Ability to operate in fast-paced and ambiguous settings, balancing speed, risk, and quality • Experience owning technical decisions, evaluating novel technologies, system designs, and risks • Working proficiency with a programming or statistical language such as Python, R, Matlab, Java, or Apex • Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze and rigorously validate data and code • Structured problem-solving approach and ability to identify root causes • Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders across varied cultural, national, and social backgrounds • Fluency in English • Understanding, or interest in learning, how technology enables emergency response operations, including CVA platforms, identity verification, data collection tools, payment systems, and mobile apps • Must overlap with an East Africa timezone by at least 3 hours • Preferred, not required: Experience with relational databases such as SQL • Preferred, not required: Experience with data visualization • Preferred, not required: Experience working in humanitarian or emergency response contexts • Preferred, not required: Familiarity with humanitarian coordination systems and donor expectations • GiveDirectly Values alignment and demonstration of emotional intelligence, problem solving, project management, follow-through, and fostering inclusivity • Unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas in the U.S. or U.K.
