• Plan, execute, and document Functional Check Flights, Acceptance Flights, and Ferry Flights supporting depot maintenance operations • Support aircraft induction, maintenance verification, and return-to-service operations at Fleet Readiness Center East (MCAS Cherry Point) • Maintain readiness to operate from a Government-designated home station • Coordinate with government personnel, maintenance organizations, and aircrew members to safely execute flight operations • Exercise responsibility for flight safety, instructional quality, pilot standardization, and development of qualified operational pilots and Aircraft Commanders • Conduct initial, transition, requalification, continuation, upgrade, mission, and remedial training for KC-130H/T pilots • Provide instruction on aircraft systems, limitations, procedures, flight characteristics, performance, mission planning, crew resource management, operational risk management, and emergency procedures • Conduct flight instruction during ground operations, takeoff, departure, instrument flight, en route operations, aerial refueling, tactical operations, approaches, landings, and other authorized mission events • Demonstrate and instruct normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures in the aircraft and approved training devices • Observe trainee performance, identify deficiencies, and provide immediate corrective instruction when necessary • Conduct preflight briefings, post-flight critiques, progress reviews, and formal training debriefings • Document trainee performance and recommend continuation, additional training, advancement, qualification, requalification, or removal from training • Develop and review lesson plans, training scenarios, courseware, instructional materials, training records, and aircrew training requirements • Participate in standardization conferences, instructor development programs, training review boards, mishap prevention programs, and aircrew training program assessments • Maintain knowledge and proficiency in aircraft systems, operating procedures, mission employment, instructional techniques, and governing directives • Contribute to the Monthly Task Status Report (MTSR) • Complete and update required documentation, including Form 644s, Training Folder, FEF, DD Form 2627s, and DD Form 2628s • Apply aviation risk management principles to the safe planning, execution, and documentation of Functional Check Flights
• Must be a fully qualified KC-130H/T T2P co-pilot • Must meet applicable experience and flight-hour prerequisites • Must successfully complete prescribed instructor training and evaluation requirements • Must maintain required medical and flight qualifications • Must be formally designated as an Instructor Pilot by competent authority • Minimum active U.S. SECRET clearance • Subject to a government security investigation • Valid driver’s license required for insurance purposes • Ability to pass a background check for access to specific working location installation bases • FAA Class II medical physical • At least 225 hours of total military flight time (preferred) • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Strong supervisory and leadership skills • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate • Ability to function well in a high-paced and stressful environment • Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software • Ability to work flexible hours and respond on short notice as needed • Ability to maintain professional appearance • Occasional travel for meetings, training, and/or site visits • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds • Ability to ascend and descend stairs to and from and on and off aircraft • Ability to operate aviation equipment, tools, computers, and devices requiring finger and hand movement • Ability to see and read various monitors and documents
