• Lead grant writing and prepare reports for funding agencies • Mentor Research Assistants and other research staff • Assist with hiring and training Research Assistants and other research staff • Assist with literature reviews, survey instrument design, data cleaning, survey planning, data quality monitoring, and fieldwork supervision • Ensure projects follow GBL standards and protocols, including IRB approval, coding standards, and analysis procedures • Identify research design and project risks, propose solutions, and escalate issues to researchers • Maintain communication and alignment among researchers, GBL staff, and implementation partners • Clarify expectations and troubleshoot challenges • Ensure projects have sufficient material and human resources • Maintain project documentation, including codebooks, field protocols, and project logs, to academic transparency and reproducibility standards • Coordinate participant payments and study-related costs with administrative and finance teams • Prepare policy memos, research briefs, blogs, and articles on studies • Represent GBL at external stakeholder meetings and deliver presentations • Support all stages of randomized evaluations across two U.S.-based projects • Contribute to developing additional U.S. projects
• Master's or doctoral degree in Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, Development Studies, or a related field, or Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of relevant work experience • Ability to work in a team, manage multiple projects, and work independently • Experience managing Randomized Controlled Trials • Extensive experience conducting social science or economic field research, including supervising data collection, survey design and implementation, and data management • Strong quantitative and analytical skills • Proficiency in Stata or R • Experience with financial reporting and management • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel/spreadsheet applications • Strong familiarity with data science principles and AI coding platforms such as Claude Code and Codex/GPT • Detail-oriented with strong written and oral communication skills • Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites • Experience in grant writing for existing and new projects • Comfort with dynamic environments and competing priorities • Ability to work in teams with shared responsibilities • Ability to coordinate independently with coworkers • Resourcefulness in new environments and scenarios • Problem-solving in high-pressure environments • Adaptability and focus on solving problems rather than adhering to one approach • Satisfactory background verification required for employment
