It installs solar PV systems for low-income households, community organizations, multifamily buildings, and tribal communities while running workforce development programs (including Installation Basics Training, SolarCorps fellowships, and AmeriCorps placements) to train and place people in clean energy jobs. GRID also works on related clean mobility, battery storage, and public EV charging projects and engages in policy leadership and partnerships to expand equitable access to clean energy.

📋 Description

• Raise funding from locally based philanthropic foundations in Southern California • Work directly with the Director of Regional Philanthropy and Regional Foundation Manager • Support reporting on existing grants • Submit funding applications • Conduct prospect research • Help manage a portfolio of partners committed to GRID Alternatives • Support efforts to increase major, impact-driven funding partnerships

🎯 Requirements

• Passionate advocate for renewable energy, affordable housing, workforce development, and/or environmental justice work • Demonstrated exceptional persuasive writing skills, including grant writing, oral presentations and email communication • Excellent organizational skills, follow-through, attention to detail and deadline management • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to coordinate and communicate effectively and efficiently with varied internal team members • Solid computer productivity skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Apps • Ability to develop a prospecting strategy to secure new funders • 3–5 or more years of professional nonprofit fundraising or grantmaking experience • Comfortable working as part of a team in a hard-working, informal, high-growth organization • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience • Specific experience with renewable energy, affordable housing, and/or environmental/environmental justice work • Existing relationships with local and national foundations focused on climate change, environmental justice and/or economic opportunity, specifically in Southern California • Experience working with or in a large, networked organization • Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM • California applicants must be able to pass screening for specified illegal drugs
