📋 Description

• Oversee inpatient, outpatient and professional fee coding teams • Perform training and initial QA review for direct-report coders • Review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to extract data and apply ICD-10 diagnosis, CPT and PCS codes • Support coding, billing, internal and external reporting, research, and regulatory compliance • Communicate with coding teams, client contacts, and providers regarding coding of conditions and procedures • Oversee coding-related payer denials and recommend appropriate claim resolution • Create Excel reports as requested • Maintain knowledge of coding principles, governmental regulations, official guidelines, and third-party documentation and billing requirements • Perform quality coding and answer questions on inpatient/outpatient surgery, clinic, emergency room, and ancillary coding • Train new coders on facility-specific coding/abstracting guidelines, encoder, and EMR functionality • Follow facility-specific policies and procedures • Provide daily coder support and answer facility-related coding questions • Review coding and pending queues daily, ensure timely chart completion, and notify administrative staff when unable to meet the 24-hour turnaround standard • Facilitate daily coder work assignments and work with the Operations Manager to resolve questions and issues • Send daily queue status reports and communicate with the facility as necessary • Work directly with IQC staff to ensure facility quality standards are met • Coach team members and escalate performance issues as appropriate • Travel to client sites may be necessary at times

🎯 Requirements

• Requires a University Degree and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience (Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education) • 3 years of medical coding experience • Must maintain credential throughout employment • Strong working knowledge & experience with Federal & State Coding Regulations and Guidelines • Must be a US Citizen and willing to undergo a federal background check as part of the onboarding process • Must hold one of the following credentials: (RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CPC, COC) • Supervisor experience • Experience working in any of the following systems: EPIC, Cerner, Next Gen, Allscripts or any other EHR • Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Medical Terminology • Experience with Coding clinics ICD-10-CM and PCS • Experience with Government and other Payer guidelines as they relate to compliant coding
