📋 Description

• Monitor Small Commercial Lines growth, profit, quality, and service metrics using data, analytics, and reporting • Develop, articulate, and align underwriting strategy with direct reports • Manage supervisors and managers and drive territory results through them • Ensure workflows are followed within established timelines and recommend workflow enhancements • Collaborate with leadership, field leadership, State Management, Home Office underwriting, and other stakeholders • Recommend, communicate, and implement improvements to team results • Participate in State Management, playbook development, rate reviews, and underwriting strategy development • Plan and implement portfolio management projects and actions while monitoring execution and success • Set underwriting goals and development plans and conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports • Handle underwriting referrals within assigned authority • Lead and participate in quality audits and file reviews, including action-plan monitoring and team development • Manage underwriter performance across direct reports, Team Leads, and Managers • Lead team meetings and participate in business-unit and organizational meetings • Work with AVP/VP on resource allocation and underwriter assignments • Consult with AVP/VP on employment, termination, and disciplinary recommendations and execute agreed actions

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred • 8+ years of applicable new business or renewal underwriting experience with proven production, service, and quality results • Prior leadership experience required • Expert knowledge of Small Commercial strategies, products, and capabilities • Familiarity with other Hanover franchise capabilities • Ability to drive Small Commercial strategies across the enterprise as a consultative resource • High-level proficiency in underwriting execution and appropriate decision-making within underwriting authority • Ability to independently set account strategy and occasionally partner with a manager • Ability to create consensus on accounts • Ability to work independently consistently • Productive relationship-building, internal networking, and influencing skills • Excellent time management and ability to prioritize leadership responsibilities with territory assignments • Proactive and accountable ownership of actions, outcomes, performance, and development • Ability to develop people and team-management skills • CPCU designation preferred or currently being pursued
