📋 Description

• Manage all aspects of editing articles • Manage editorial content, design, and photography, including digital content • Review, proofread, and fact-check all copy • Perform detailed and complex website CMS design work, including art research • Review and analyze current trends and events and make strategic recommendations regarding what to publish • Serve as liaison to contributors, faculty, and authors • Solicit and/or evaluate manuscripts and manuscript proposals • Identify and acquire writers for future projects, particularly people directly impacted by the carceral system • Select topics and develop content • Schedule and manage outside writers and other staff • Manage and lead the day-to-day work of the Assistant Editor and Communications role • Oversee Inquest's publication calendar and editorial pipeline in ClickUp • Manage the author payment process

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience • 5 or more years of experience in communications, publishing, or related field • Commitment to the mission, goals, and values of Inquest and the Institute to End Mass Incarceration • Strong copyediting and proofreading skills • Proficiency with Word, particularly its suite of reviewing tools • Proficiency with InDesign • Proficiency with WordPress • Proficiency with MailChimp • Proficiency with Google Drive and Docs • Proficiency with Excel • Proficiency with Zoom • Proficiency with Slack • Familiarity with ClickUp is a plus • Must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment • Harvard University is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position
