📋 Description

• Accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT/HCPCS procedure codes, and applicable modifiers for outpatient hospital encounters • Code medical record documentation for Clinic Records, Diagnostic Services, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) • Meet or exceed established quality and productivity benchmarks • Assist in management of DNFB to ensure a minimal number of uncoded days • Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI), billing, and revenue integrity teams • Identify documentation gaps and escalate when clarification is needed • Contact providers or other staff to obtain missing documentation timely • Abstract data with a high accuracy rate according to established policy • Participate in creating a collaborative environment to promote excellence in coding and outcomes • Adapt to changing department demands • Ensure compliance with medical coding policies and guidelines • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent • Certified Physician Coder – Apprentice (CPC-A) or Certified Outpatient Coder – Apprentice (COC-A) required • Certified Physician Coder (CPC) or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) preferred • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills • Vigilance and keen attention to detail • Proper phone and email etiquette • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet productivity and quality standards • Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology • Understanding of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS • Knowledge and experience using an encoder and EMR required • Ability to work independently in a remote environment • Ability to work under pressure • Ability to interact effectively with other staff members
