📋 Description

• Review health record documentation to ensure it supports assigned diagnoses and procedures • Accurately assign surgical ICD-10 and CPT codes for inpatient, observation, and day surgery cases • Apply UHDDS definitions and Prospective Payment System guidelines to determine principal diagnoses and procedures • Confirm DRGs and APCs • Classify non-indexed medical terms using knowledge of disease processes and surgical procedures • Support Patient Billing Services in submitting clean claims that meet medical necessity requirements • Review and perform charge data entry in hospital and physician patient accounting systems • Consult reference materials and navigate electronic systems, including Epic • Consult with coding staff, nursing units, case management staff, physicians, clinics, and hospital personnel • Review documentation to match appropriate codes with medical necessity • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• High School diploma/GED • One of the following certifications: CCA, CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA • Two (2) years of coding experience required • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, clinical disease processes, pharmacology, and diagnostic and procedural terminology • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding classification systems • Knowledge of UHDDS definitions and Prospective Payment System guidelines • Ability to determine principal diagnoses and procedures and confirm DRGs and APCs • Ability to classify non-indexed medical terms • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in health information management or related field • Preferred: Associate's degree in health information management or related field • Must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment • Subject to pre-employment screening, including criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification
