📋 Description

• Schedule surgery appointments for patients efficiently and promptly • Provide customer service to internal and external customers through prompt responses and courteous communication • Book, coordinate, and reschedule surgical and post-op appointments • Relay necessary messages to physicians, staff, and facilities • Mail/email detailed surgery information to patients • Maintain and update physician surgery schedules, including hospital block times • Coordinate surgery dates and times and update the surgery tracker • Counsel patients on surgery information, guidelines, facilities, dates, and times • Arrange surgical assistants or second surgeons, neuromonitoring, and DME as needed • Fax pre-op test/clearance orders to primary and referring physicians and instruct patients to schedule appointments • Inform patients about possible calls from DME providers, hospitals, and the business office • Schedule pre-surgical conferences with physicians, nurses, or physician assistants • Cover co-workers and cross-train as needed • Participate in clinic meetings concerning hospital scheduling policies, quality issues, and other concerns • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Knowledge of medical terminology • Computer experience • Knowledge of medical office procedures, including surgery procedures and practices • Knowledge of the interrelationship of the surgery department with laboratory and radiology • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation for typing patient information • Skill in operating a computer, photocopy machine, and fax • Pleasant and helpful telephone manner • Ability to speak clearly and concisely • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check
