• Provide one-on-one vocational rehabilitation services focused on job readiness training, job development, job placement, and coaching • Provide one-on-one and group-based employment-focused services throughout the New England Region, face-to-face or virtually • Work with service providers and community partners to execute Individualized Plans for Employment (IPEs) • Provide assistive technology, instrumental activities of daily living assistance, self-advocacy training, and casework as needed • Identify service gaps and unmet consumer needs across the region • Educate Vocational Rehabilitation personnel about DeafBlind capabilities and HKNC programs and services • Serve as liaison and professional trainer between HKNC, Vocational Rehabilitation, and home team members • Provide training and mentoring on work-site accommodations • Work with VR and businesses to create work experience opportunities • Identify DeafBlind youth and adults for inclusion in the HKNC National Registry • Identify professional learning opportunities and assist with regional training needs assessments • Implement vocational services best practices with HKNC teams and regional partners • Coordinate with State DeafBlind Projects serving transition-age youth, families, and educational personnel • Link educational teams with VR and community resources and attend IEP meetings when necessary • Coordinate referrals, follow-up recommendations, and training with the DeafBlind Immersion Experience coordinator • Travel to consumer, partner, and training locations throughout the New England Region as needed • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor or department director
• Bachelor’s degree in vocational rehabilitation, special education or a closely related degree • Three to five years of experience • Basic computer proficiency • Experience with File Maker Pro, Outlook, and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) • Certification in good standing with emphasis in employment services, including ACRE and/or CESP (preferred) • Familiarity with Vocational Rehabilitation and Blind Services agencies within the New England Region (preferred) • Fluency in communication methods used by people who are DeafBlind, including American Sign Language (ASL) and sign language in English word order (preferred)
