• Achieve overall sales goals and grow Hubbell’s installed base of technology products and services for securing, operating, and optimizing the electrical distribution grid • Lead customer engagement across multiple product lines in the assigned territory • Assess customer needs, develop market-leading solutions, communicate market intelligence, and win business with current and new customers • Promote Hubbell as a market leader in electrical grid automation • Develop and maintain contacts within utility management, project teams, channel partners, and industry stakeholders • Identify and develop opportunities with new and existing customers • Advocate with customer stakeholders to drive and acquire funding mechanisms • Analyze accounts and develop sales plans and long-term account engagement strategies • Assess competitor offerings and develop differentiated market approaches • Lead account-based marketing campaigns and commercialization of new offerings • Gather product Voice of the Customer and contribute to product development ideas and specifications • Conduct market research and special projects • Achieve sales targets and year-on-year growth plans through territory and customer analysis • Implement sales programs and conduct product presentations and demonstrations • Provide sales support and customer knowledge for communications and software systems • Overcome technical and business objections with utility communications and software system solutions • Prepare proposals and obtain internal approvals with Communication Operations • Assist with customer credit establishment and receivables collection • Maintain customer information, opportunity pipeline, and forecasts in CRM systems • Control sales expenses to meet budgets • Evaluate, establish, and maintain independent sales agent/distributor networks • Assign, direct, support, and supervise sales agents/distributors • Ensure agents/distributors follow Hubbell policies and procedures • Review agents/distributors for compliance and identify training needs • Maintain agent/distributor contracts with Sales Channel Leadership • Coordinate project and quotation activities between agencies and regions • Develop bookings and/or sales quota assignments for agents/distributors • Attend industry trade shows and coordinate customer meetings
• BS in Engineering, preference in Electrical Engineering • MBA a plus • 10+ years of experience in power generation, transmission and distribution systems, or communications and software systems in an engineering capacity • Utility experience strongly preferred • 5+ years of experience in sales, commercial, or product management roles • Experience working and supervising independent sales agents/distributors preferred • Understanding and utilization of electrical standards including UL, CSA, IEC, ANSI, IEEE, CE, and California Rule 21 where applicable • Familiarity with importing and exporting laws, regulations, and commercial aspects, including letters of credit, Incoterms, performance bonds, tariff codes, bid bonds, penalty clauses, and currency hedging • Knowledge of Hubbell and competitor products and services and their applications in electric power generation, transmission, distribution, and power quality measurement • Knowledge of utility back-office integrations for AMI and distribution automation applications • Knowledge of domestic and international electrical standards and local laboratory certificate requirements • Ability to write and publish technical papers • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents • Ability to respond to customer, regulatory agency, and business community inquiries or complaints • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication • Ability to present information effectively to customers, top management, public groups, and boards of directors • Ability to travel up to 50% via air or land • Must reside in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, or Iowa
