📋 Description

• Own and evaluate the architecture of the central AI model, changing it based on evidence • Apply state-of-the-art techniques to uncover semantics in large, unusual datasets and improve downstream performance with domain experts • Define success metrics beyond existing GeoAI benchmarks • Prove ideas through fast, inexpensive experiments and scale successful approaches to petabyte-scale training with engineers • Collaborate with the agent team on model invocation, outputs, and product usefulness • Set milestones, roadmap, and resourcing with leadership and identify risks early • Write and publish research on earth observation foundation models • Represent the company’s work at conferences and with the broader community • Work with the Chief Scientist, engineering team, and agent team to train, experiment with, and deploy models for customers

🎯 Requirements

• PhD degree in computer science, engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience • 2+ years of industry experience building and shipping AI systems • Deep understanding of cutting-edge AI research • Track record of original ideas or meaningful contributions demonstrated through publications and/or projects • Experience taking ideas from small, exploratory experiments in compute- and data-limited settings to performant, large-scale training runs • Comfortable designing models for unconventional data modalities beyond text • Experience training models on non-language data such as images, time series, or sensor data is a bonus • Geospatial or earth observation experience, or a background in earth science, is a bonus • Background in math or physics, especially where it informs modeling physical systems and sensor data, is a bonus • Fluent in Python and PyTorch is a bonus • Able to write efficient, reliable training and inference code is a bonus • Comfortable using agentic coding tools is a bonus
