📋 Description

• Work with Subject Matter Experts and key stakeholders to design and develop engaging, effective online courses for higher education and corporate partners • Ensure courses follow research-based online learning best practices, incorporate relevant technologies, and meet quality standards • Adapt content for online instruction and establish learning outcomes • Align course content and assessments with learning outcomes and objectives • Design relevant assessments and suggest appropriate instructional methods and open educational resources • Maintain comprehensive documentation of design decisions and prepare materials for partner review and approval • Incorporate partner and stakeholder feedback through agreed revision cycles • Leverage AI-powered tools to generate course-content ideas and streamline development workflows • Facilitate SME working sessions and obtain approvals for course design deliverables • Coordinate with e-Learning Technology, Quality Review, Video & Multimedia Services, Graphic Design, and other internal production teams at handoff points • Participate in milestone reviews and project check-ins to meet delivery milestones • Inform the Lead Instructional Designer and Project Manager of issues affecting course design, development, and delivery • Support learning experiences that integrate pedagogy, learner experience, and technology within partners’ educational technology ecosystems

🎯 Requirements

• Advanced degree in Education, Instructional Technology, or related field • Current, in-depth knowledge of instructional design and learning theories • Expertise in online learning, instructional design and technology, adult learning theory, and andragogy/pedagogy • 3–5 years of experience collaborating with SMEs for online course development in higher education or corporate environments • Strong fluency across learning management systems such as Blackboard, Canvas, D2L, Moodle, and related educational technologies • Ability to understand LMS capabilities and constraints and use them to inform learning design decisions • Proven ability to build strong relationships with subject matter experts and meet deadlines • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to lead and influence others collaboratively • Strategic thinking skills focused on student engagement, retention, measurable outcomes, and institutional priorities • Experience with ADA compliance and quality standards for course design, such as Quality Matters and OLC • Demonstrated fluency with AI-powered instructional design tools • Ability to evaluate AI outputs using curiosity and critical thinking for pedagogical quality and alignment with learning objectives • Adaptability and capacity to quickly learn and apply new processes, tools, and methodologies • Strong organizational skills, excellent follow-through, and exceptional attention to detail • Must be located in the Eastern, Central, Mountain, or Pacific time zones • Must not reside in or otherwise be based in California, New York, Illinois, or Massachusetts • Must be able to attend scheduled project meetings during regular business hours • Preferred: proven track record working with academic and business partners to create online courses • Preferred: excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills • Preferred: background in Learner Experience Design • Preferred: expertise in competency-based learning • Preferred: comprehensive knowledge of open educational resources (OERs) • Preferred: quality assurance training and certification (QM, OSCQR, or other) • Preferred: post-secondary teaching and learning experience
