📋 Description

• Perform monthly accounting for non-profit organizations remotely • Perform bank and credit card account reconciliations • Review and adjust balance sheet accounts to supporting schedules, including prepaid expenses, vacation time, and fixed assets • Allocate shared costs to program, administration, and fundraising functions for the statement of functional expenses • Track expenses for grants and adjust temporarily restricted net asset balances • Review transaction detail, note coding changes, and use them to train clients • Produce monthly finance reports for staff and boards • Check 990 returns and audited financial statements against client records • Respond to client questions using the most effective communication method • Train clients in proper QuickBooks Online use and firm best practices • Provide vacation coverage for colleagues when needed • Proactively implement improvements to client and firm systems • Report hours worked accurately and daily • Respond promptly to colleague and supervisor questions and requests • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Part-time availability of 10–30 hours per week • Proficiency with QuickBooks, Excel, web-based cloud tools, and Google Drive Apps • Basic knowledge of GAAP required • Familiarity with non-profit GAAP preferred • Experience with monthly close accounting tasks • Experience working with supporting schedules, including fixed assets and prepaid expenses • Ability to analyze financial statements • Experience in accounting at a small- or mid-sized non-profit organization preferred • Experience teaching QuickBooks bookkeeping to non-accountants preferred • Ability to be patient and flexible with clients and colleagues at different comfort levels with accounting • Professional manner in all communication • Co-operative and balanced approach to work • Must be able to communicate via phone and email • Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time • Ability to travel locally preferred • Resume and cover letter must be submitted as a single document; applications without a cover letter will not be considered
