📋 Description

• Provide coding and abstracting services for physician and facility medical records using ICD-10-CM, CPS, and CPT coding systems • Review medical records to identify pertinent diagnoses and procedures • Select principal and additional diagnoses and procedures using UHDDS definitions • Ensure appropriate DRG assignment • Abstract information from medical records according to client guidelines • Meet productivity and quality performance requirements • Enter coded charts in real time throughout the scheduled shift • Request physician clarification for ambiguous or conflicting documentation • Participate in team meetings and required training • Train or shadow other coders when requested • Work across multiple clients to meet required classification hours • Participate in Coding Roundtables through presentations on coding and Health Information Management topics • Maintain current knowledge of Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting • Complete assigned education modules • Keep coding credentials current and active • Maintain effective professional communication and contribute to a positive company image

🎯 Requirements

• Required CPC, COC, CIC, CCA, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA credential • Minimum 3 years of related coding experience • Minimum 3 years of Profee and Facility Ophthalmology chart coding experience • Ability to code Clinic E&M, diagnosis codes, and CPTs • Experience coding both profee-PB and facility-HB ophthalmology charts • Epic with 3M 360 experience required • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes • Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPS, and CPT coding principles and guidelines • Knowledge of reimbursement systems and federal, state, and payor-specific documentation, coding, and billing regulations and policies • Must pass a coding proficiency test • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills • High coding accuracy and attention to detail • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook • Ability to work for prolonged periods at a computer and remain seated • Must keep coding credentials up to date and active
