📋 Description

• Coordinate support for potential tissue and eye donor families • Establish initial phone contact and offer tissue and eye donation options in accordance with regulations • Provide trauma, grief, and bereavement support during initial contact and follow-up • Identify additional support needs and connect families with hospital or community resources • Communicate grief and bereavement plans to the Aftercare Team • Complete authorization, disclosure, Document of Gift, medical/social history, and other required documentation • Collaborate with funeral homes, whole-body donation programs, hospitals, hospice providers, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and external OPOs • Coordinate with clinical personnel and Infinite Legacy teams during donor management and tissue recovery • Triage calls regarding tissue donation, hospice referrals, and medical evaluation • Navigate sensitive conversations regarding tissue rejection and provide post-donation support • Conduct DC, Virginia, and Maryland registry checks for outside OPOs • Initiate follow-up support for donor and non-donor families and document aftercare activities • Participate in continuing education, simulation, staff meetings, team meetings, and case reviews

🎯 Requirements

• Master’s degree at an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, psychology, nursing, or a related degree; a bachelor’s degree will be considered if relevant experience is met • 1–2 years’ experience in an acute health care setting, hospice, bereavement counseling center, crisis intervention, or similar setting involving death, dying, grief, and loss • Ability to interact with grieving families in a supportive, empathic manner while considering cultural diversities • Effective verbal and written communication skills • Ability to use databases, email, Internet resources, and related technology • Reliable Internet connection capable of supporting a VoIP phone and laptop • Ability to work autonomously with strong accountability, self-motivation, time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills • Ability to work twelve 12-hour shifts per month in addition to simulation time, meetings, and related activities • Ability to work within applicable state, federal, and industry regulations
