📋 Description

• Define the AI engineering roadmap and architecture standards across the organization • Lead build vs. buy vs. integrate decisions for AI systems and platforms • Evaluate emerging tools, frameworks, and models and provide recommendations to leadership • Serve as the ultimate technical escalation point for complex AI/ML system design challenges • Architect AI solutions for the enterprise platform across process and underlying platform architecture layers • Design systems for scale, reliability, and cost-efficiency in production environments • Establish LLMOps practices, including evaluation and regression suites, cost and quality observability, versioned prompts and configurations, staged rollout and rollback, and production guardrails • Ensure AI systems integrate cleanly with existing product and engineering infrastructure • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to align AI capabilities with business outcomes • Coordinate cross-functional engagement while focusing on technical leadership and decision-making • Guide resource allocation and engagement sequencing • Translate complex technical concepts for executives and business stakeholders • Challenge approaches that compromise long-term system health • Champion and introduce AI-assisted coding practices and developer tooling across engineering • Define standards for responsible AI development, guardrails, evaluation frameworks, and security considerations • Drive continuous improvement in building and shipping AI-powered features • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience • 5+ years of software engineering experience with a meaningful portion in production AI/ML or LLM/GenAI systems • 2+ years building production LLM/GenAI and agentic systems • Fluency with AI-assisted coding tooling and judgment to set organization-wide standards, evaluations, and guardrails for AI-generated code • Demonstrated track record of rebuilding an existing business process with AI at its core within an existing enterprise environment, shipped to production and owned the outcome • Production experience with LLM/GenAI and agentic systems, including agent orchestration, tool calling, RAG, and structured outputs • Sound judgment about appropriate and inappropriate AI use in customer-facing, research, policy binding, money movement, and compliance flows • Experience making and communicating organizational build vs. buy vs. integrate decisions • Proficiency in Python and the modern GenAI application stack, including agent and orchestration frameworks, model-provider SDKs, vector databases, and evaluation tooling • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills • Preferred: Direct evidence of legacy-process redesign with latitude to alter underlying platform architecture • Preferred: Enterprise or regulated-domain experience, ideally in insurance or financial services • Preferred: Technical lead or principal engineer experience with broad organizational influence • Preferred: Experience working closely with product engineering teams in a dual-track agile model • Preferred: Experience with AI cost management, observability, and governance frameworks
