📋 Description

• Develop and execute global patent and intellectual property strategies for products, product candidates, platform technologies, and acquired or licensed assets • Lead intellectual property due diligence for acquisitions, licensing transactions, collaborations, partnerships, and other strategic transactions • Conduct freedom-to-operate evaluations, portfolio strength analyses, exclusivity assessments, and material IP risk and value-driver analyses • Communicate diligence findings and recommendations to executive leadership and transaction teams to support valuation, negotiations, and transaction structuring • Develop and execute post-transaction integration strategies, including patent portfolio optimization, ownership alignment, prosecution harmonization, and asset-value enhancement • Build and manage global patent portfolios from invention capture through issuance and lifecycle management • Provide strategic input into licensing, collaboration, acquisition, due diligence, and integration documents • Partner with research, development, commercial, regulatory, business development, and corporate development stakeholders • Conduct infringement, validity, patentability, competitive landscape, and freedom-to-operate analyses and develop risk mitigation strategies • Manage outside counsel supporting prosecution, due diligence, litigation, opinions, and strategic matters • Counsel senior management and cross-functional teams on IP risks, opportunities, exclusivity, competitive positioning, and portfolio optimization • Review publications, presentations, press releases, and other public disclosures to protect patent rights • Advise on or lead patent litigation, IPRs, PGRs, European oppositions, and related proceedings • Lead departmental initiatives to improve IP operations, diligence capabilities, portfolio management, and organizational effectiveness

🎯 Requirements

• Fully qualified U.S. Patent Attorney or Agent • 10+ years of relevant intellectual property experience in the biopharmaceutical industry • Substantial in-house experience supporting corporate development, licensing, collaborations, mergers and acquisitions, or other strategic transactions • Undergraduate degree in biological sciences, biochemistry, chemistry, or another discipline relevant to pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or life sciences • Significant experience leading IP due diligence for acquisitions, licensing transactions, collaborations, venture investments, and other strategic corporate transactions • Experience evaluating, integrating, and maximizing the value of acquired or licensed patent portfolios and intellectual property assets • Deep expertise in patent portfolio development, lifecycle management, exclusivity strategies, freedom-to-operate analyses, and competitive intelligence • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with ability to distill complex legal and scientific concepts into clear business recommendations • Strategic thinking and ability to anticipate business challenges, identify opportunities, and develop practical solutions • Ability to influence cross-functional decision-making and build trusted partnerships with executives and business stakeholders • Strong project management, prioritization, and organizational skills • Experience in patent litigation, post-grant proceedings, oppositions, and other adversarial matters is a plus
