JHU EEHPC is the Energy Efficient High Performance Computing Lab at Johns Hopkins University, led by Tinoosh Mohsenin. The lab focuses on designing medical, health, and wearable devices and developing tiny, energy-efficient wearable and mobile computing systems through cross-layer approaches spanning algorithms, architecture, hardware, and system integration. It applies high-performance computing and artificial intelligence methods to smart health monitoring, robotics, autonomous navigation, and related domains, aiming to revolutionize healthcare, transportation, and public utilities.

📋 Description

• Translate complex scientific and technical information into clear, compelling content for researchers, funding agencies, leadership, and the public • Develop and edit grant proposals, manuscripts, reports, newsletters, white papers, website content, marketing materials, and event materials • Oversee clarity, integrity, design, layout, photography, production, and dissemination of communications materials • Advise and consult as an editor, providing backup editing support • Coordinate strategic content planning with Development • Supervise writers, editors, and freelancers • Serve as primary contact for newsletter requests and support feasibility, design, and implementation decisions • Lead writing and editing procedures and manage the communications editorial calendar • Edit public relations, marketing, conference, meeting, and event materials • Mentor staff and support coordinated communications activities and projects • Lead development, implementation, and assessment of communications strategies • Drive compelling content across print and digital publications for varied audiences • Monitor and update admissions-cycle information, deadlines, academic offerings, and scholarship opportunities • Liaise with agency partners, University Communications, and other university departments • Report communications campaign metrics to leadership • Act as an expert on the university brand • Develop BIOS CTCC teams' ability to produce complex scientific and technical communications • Oversee development of written and graphical communication skills among BIOS CTCC scientific teams • Independently acquire and initially organize data for mission-critical BIOS CTCC projects • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field • Seven years of related experience • Additional education may substitute for required experience • Additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, subject to the JHU equivalency formula • Advanced editing skills • Advanced editorial process skills • Advanced project management skills • Advanced proofreading skills • Advanced story generation skills • Intermediate visual design skills • Intermediate writing skills • Preferred: Medical Writer Certified (MWC) professional or equivalent medical/scientific writing credential • Preferred: BELS/ELS certification or other recognized scientific editing certification • Preferred: Membership and active participation in AMWA, EMWA, or CSE • Preferred: Continuing education in medical writing, scientific communications, and publication standards • Successful candidates subject to a pre-employment background check
