• Lead media advocacy efforts for an assigned territory in English and Spanish • Provide input into campaign planning and implement tactics supporting policy and revenue activities • Develop target media lists and build relationships with Capitol press corps, health reporters, and diverse news outlets • Draft talking points, fact sheets, news releases/advisories, op-eds, letters to the editor, speeches, presentations, FAQs, and other media materials • Draft and implement strategic media advocacy plans for local, state, and federal policy campaigns • Assist with ballot and electoral campaign planning • Develop messaging tailored to political environments and legislative activity • Plan and manage press conferences, media events, and editorial board meetings • Develop and maintain press relationships; proactively engage reporters and respond to media inquiries • Track and report media results and trends • Coordinate with ACS Marketing & Communications staff and ACS CAN media advocacy colleagues • Manage media activities supporting ACS CAN fundraising • Conduct media trainings for volunteers and staff • Identify, vet, and train staff and volunteer spokespeople • Represent ACS CAN in coalitions for priority campaigns • Elevate ACS CAN's profile and awareness of its legislative and voter education activity through media outreach
• Bachelor's Degree required • 2–3 years of experience in journalism or public relations and/or legislative communications • Spanish language proficiency required • Familiarity with the legislative and/or political process • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and computer skills • Ability to work independently with minimum direction and as a member or leader of a team • Demonstrated ability to work on fast-paced, time-sensitive matters with internal and external constituents • Ability to complete work in a timely and efficient manner and ensure accuracy • Ability to utilize available technology to perform position responsibilities • Self-starter and proactive with creating ideas and messaging • Adept at working independently in a remote setting • Some overnight travel for meetings required • Limited lifting for media event setup may be required
