📋 Description

• Handle on-demand video and audio interpreting sessions between Cantonese and English speakers • Render accurate meanings according to established interpretation protocol, without omissions or additions • Serve clients across healthcare, government, insurance, finance, utilities, travel and hospitality, business, law enforcement, courts, and 911 • Respond promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly, professional manner • Participate in online, video, and audio training sessions • Deliver interpretation via video and type data on a dedicated device • Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and polite expressions • Maintain professionalism, neutrality, and cultural sensitivity during sessions • Remain calm during sensitive, emotional, stressful, or emergency calls • Maintain punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours • Follow client instructions and interpretation protocols • Apply terminology and procedures across multiple industries • Work from a quiet, secure home office

🎯 Requirements

• Fluency in Cantonese and English and skilled in the associated cultural dynamics • Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences • Excellent listening, retention and note-taking skills • Ability to remain neutral and objective during sensitive conversations • Ability to adapt to LanguageLine Solutions technology enhancements • Must be at least 18 years of age • Legally authorized to work in the United States • Must have US work authorization that does not now or in the future require visa sponsorship • High school diploma or equivalent • Ability to read and write the requested languages — highly preferred • Dedicated personal device for business purposes • Desktop/laptop with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS; tablets with iPadOS or Android and smartphones with iOS or Android acceptable • Kaspersky products and Huawei hardware are restricted • High-speed internet with at least 5 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload, ping no more than 300 ms, and jitter no more than 30 ms • Quiet space free from background noise or distraction • Ability to operate a keyboard and mouse and remain stationary before a computer and webcam most of the workday • Must use a headset for prolonged periods • Ability to operate company-provided software and systems • Sufficient manual dexterity to type or write • Able to lift up to 26 lbs • Post-offer pre-employment background check and/or drug screen may be required based on location
