📋 Description

• Support new and returning Academy students in grades 6–12 with academic, college-career, and social-emotional development • Accommodate circumstances unique to the diverse school population while ensuring ethical review and documentation of student requirements on official transcripts • Review incoming student transcripts, including international transcripts, and support course schedule creation upon admission • Ensure students meet academic standards and requirements for grade-level promotion, graduation, and college acceptance • Monitor student pacing and progress according to Laurel Springs policies and expectations • Facilitate grade-level seminar courses and provide meaningful feedback on assignments • Provide frequent, high-touch support toward students’ post-secondary goals, including career exploration, college list development, and pathway opportunities • Write letters of recommendation for student applications • Lead live and recorded Counseling Department webinars, events, and activities • Organize and support Academy-exclusive counseling opportunities, including peer mentoring, seminar workshops, middle school hangouts, drop-in support, and admissions case studies events • Communicate with students, parents, teachers, staff, and administrators via email, phone, video conference, and other provided tools • Collaborate with middle and high school faculty and staff on individual student support and comprehensive programming • Conduct frequent one-on-one meetings addressing students’ academic, social/emotional, and college/career needs • Support student enrollment through virtual open houses, enrollment/re-enrollment conversations, and admissions or marketing events • Contribute to newsletters and similar school communications • Participate professionally in school-wide meetings, events, communications, and activities online and in person, including evening virtual events • Engage in ongoing professional development, self-assessment, and continuous improvement • Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, staff, management, and operations • Perform other counseling-related duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in School Counseling • Active School Counseling certification • Commitment to ongoing compliance with state and local regulations relating to background checks and credentials • 5+ years of experience counseling or working in a school setting specifically supporting high school students • Previous experience working with middle school students preferred • Extensive experience supporting students through the college application process • Experience with developing student schedules and academic plans • Excellent skills with word processing, productivity, communication, and educational technology tools • Expertise with G-Suite, Learning Management Systems, and Student Information Systems strongly preferred • Strong analytical, interpretive, evaluative, constructive thinking, and organizational skills • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills • Dependable and high-quality internet access • Quiet workspace allowing full presence and availability during typical work hours and periodic evening events • Flexibility with schedule to support international students or students requiring communication outside office hours • Ability to travel for in-person events, meetings, and training opportunities at least once or twice per year
