LifeLink Foundation is a nonprofit organization that coordinates and promotes organ, eye, and tissue donation and transplantation. It operates donor education and registration programs, partners with hospitals, transplant centers, medical examiners, coroners, funeral homes, and driver license agencies, and manages related services such as a tissue bank and transplantation immunology laboratory. LifeLink also supports donor families, community outreach, events, and fundraising to increase donor registrations and save lives.

📋 Description

• Direct resources to achieve successful placement of organs for transplantation and research • Coordinate organ and tissue placement with transplant centers, research partners, procurement agencies, OPOs, and surgical teams • Use the UNet system to match donor organs to suitable transplant recipients and communicate organ offers • Coordinate national kidney allocation with UNOS and logistics between procurement agencies and transplant centers • Develop medical social history narratives for DonorNet and assist with donor evaluation • Ensure Critical Elements are completed and charts are reviewed • Coordinate organ recovery and allocation responsibilities for LifeLink of Puerto Rico • Adjust logistics for geographic, time-zone, transplant-center, and OPO needs • Obtain and report preliminary and final culture results • Maintain chain of custody and arrange organ and specimen transportation • Document final disposition and organ outcomes • Remotely monitor pulsatile kidney perfusion and communicate information to transplant centers and UNOS • Participate in call schedules, placement coordination, documentation, follow-up, and weekly organ-placement review meetings • Build relationships with hospitals, transplant centers, and surgeon groups • Participate in hospital development initiatives and research studies • Complete documentation, quality assurance, deadlines, continuing education, staff meetings, workshops, and external forums • Assist with training new coordinators and special projects • Participate in OPO quality assessment performance improvement activities

🎯 Requirements

• RN and or healthcare related field preferred • Associates or better • Bachelors or better • Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively, meeting deadlines • Above average, demonstrated interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills • Ability to perform effectively in a high-stress environment and manage the emotional and physical demands of the role • Ability to effectively manage responsibilities and maintain performance during 24-hour call shifts • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance • Availability via cell phone 24/7 as scheduled and for non-call emergent situations • Ability to participate in call rotation • Ability to obtain appropriate CEUs to maintain certifications and license
