📋 Description

• Perform investment accounting for General Account invested assets under Statutory, GAAP, Tax, and Management reporting frameworks • Research and evaluate complex investment transactions and determine appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory guidance • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for fixed income securities, structured products, alternative investments, private placements, and mortgage loans • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies with portfolio managers, asset managers, custodians, and internal business partners • Prepare and review investment-related disclosures, statutory schedules, regulatory filings, earnings analyses, management reporting, and supporting documentation • Conduct technical accounting research and provide recommendations on new investment strategies, transactions, asset classes, and emerging accounting requirements • Respond to investment-related requests from rating agencies and support surveys, questionnaires, and external reporting requirements • Maintain and enhance investment accounting controls, support SOX compliance, and identify process improvements • Lead or participate in projects, system enhancements, and strategic initiatives impacting investment accounting and reporting • Prepare technical accounting memoranda and communicate complex accounting matters to technical and non-technical stakeholders • Review work, provide mentorship, and share technical expertise to support team development

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of investment accounting experience within an insurance company, insurance asset management organization, or similar environment supporting insurance investment portfolios • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field • Strong understanding of insurance investment accounting and financial reporting under Statutory and GAAP frameworks • Experience accounting for fixed income securities, structured products, alternative investments, and mortgage loans • Knowledge of NAIC investment classifications, Schedule D reporting, and insurance regulatory reporting requirements • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines in a dynamic environment • CPA, CFA, progress toward a professional designation, or demonstrated expertise and relevant experience in investment accounting and reporting • Experience with insurance investment accounting systems such as Clearwater, PAM, Eagle, Geneva, or similar platforms • Familiarity with SEC, Statutory, and other regulatory reporting requirements • Experience supporting General Account investment portfolios for life insurance, annuity, or property & casualty insurance companies
