📋 Description

• Review, analyze, and interpret medical information for disability claims • Act as a clinical resource for Group Protection benefit specialists and claim professionals • Evaluate diagnoses, severity of medical conditions, restrictions, limitations, impairment levels, and recovery duration • Provide coaching and guidance to claims regarding medical management • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging developments and collaborate with management to incorporate trends into solutions • Identify pertinent clinical facts and answer questions with benefits specialists and physician consultants • Support claim professionals during claim meetings • Recommend medical information needed to evaluate impairment and facilitate claim management • Refer cases to external clinical resources such as IMEs, FCEs, and peer reviews • Discuss complex medical issues with healthcare providers and document outcomes • Coordinate with Vocational Rehabilitation Coordinators to support return-to-work services • Manage assigned caseload within department productivity goals

🎯 Requirements

• 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) in Nursing • Registered Nurse – Current, unrestricted license in the state where the position is located upon hire • Ability to read, analyze and interpret internal and external documents, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, policies, proposals, and standard operating procedures • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Clear, concise communication when interpreting medical information, documenting clinical rationales, clarifying restrictions/limitations, assisting with return to work, and communicating with staff, management, and stakeholders • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred • 3-5 years of nursing experience preferred, with clinical nursing expertise in Emergency Room, Critical Care, Orthopedics, Coronary Care, or trauma • Previous insurance industry experience preferred • Experience and/or proficiency with Disability Management (STD/LTD), Workers Compensation, Utilization Review and/or nurse case management preferred
