• Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the medical/scientific community within the assigned geographic and therapeutic area • Provide credible clinical/scientific data and education to clinicians, KOLs, professional societies, and payers • Develop relationships with KOLs through scientific exchange and respond to scientific content requests • Assess KOL alignment with the scientific platform to inform territory and medical strategy • Develop KOL advocates and collaborators within the assigned territory • Support company-sponsored research, investigator-initiated studies, and publications compliantly • Coach and support MSLs with KOL access and engagement strategies • Research and identify KOLs and Focus KOLs for the assigned therapeutic area • Build and execute a territory plan to achieve KOL engagement goals • Complete independent pre-call planning for effective KOL interactions • Stay abreast of emerging scientific literature and clinical data and translate it into applicable knowledge • Respond to MIRFs within specified timelines • Disseminate clinical and scientific information regarding FDA-approved and pipeline products ethically and in a customer-focused manner • Collect and respond to scientific and clinical insights to optimize organizational communications and coordinated activities • Participate in advisory boards • Monitor, tag, and classify team insights • Contribute scientific content and build materials for projects and initiatives • Independently run projects, including planning, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and quality control • Coordinate others' work and provide coaching to achieve project goals • Mentor MSLs and lead congress planning and reporting • Build training materials using effective instructional design techniques • Provide scientific and medical training and support to the MSL team and internal partners • Collaborate across a matrix organization with internal departments and external stakeholders • Report to the Field Director of MSLs • Avoid activities that could create the appearance of sales or prescribing responsibilities
• Advanced scientific degree (MD, OD, PhD, PharmD) or equivalent experience • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry, another healthcare environment, or equivalent experience • 2+ years of leadership preferred • Thorough knowledge of medicine, treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, customer strategies, FDA promotional guidelines, regulations, and ethical guidelines preferred • Ability to access and develop relationships with high-level stakeholders • Ability to communicate scientific content effectively in one-to-one meetings, small groups, and writing • Demonstrated project management ability, including timelines, stakeholder management, and risk control • Demonstrated ability to build and facilitate effective training programs • Experience in a mentoring role • Ability to independently research responses to scientific inquiries • Ability to identify and build effective plans for engaging KOLs in the assigned territory • Strong teamwork and collaboration with internal departments • Valid driver’s license • Prior experience in Hepatology, Nephrology, or Transplantation preferred • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time • Knowledge of Company Values and commitment to practicing them
