📋 Description

• Independently conduct load flow, transient stability, reactive planning, infrastructure reinforcement, generator interconnection, and related studies • Conduct insulation coordination, harmonic, short-circuit, grounding, and related T&D equipment studies • Perform studies on renewable resources, distributed energy resources, battery energy storage, relay and protection, performance monitoring, and grid modernization applications • Manage and lead projects within specified schedules and budgets • Develop and manage project plans, goals, strategy, budget, schedule, and resource assignments • Prepare and review project activity reports and communicate with stakeholders • Lead development, organization, and analysis of data for systems studies • Apply data mining and visualization techniques to analyze and present data and ensure data integrity • Develop and test software tools to automate data analysis, monitoring, reporting, and data-integrity processes • Support and lead business opportunities, proposals, RFP/RFQ responses, and technical information requests • Prepare, present, and train others using technical reports and presentations • Lead technical papers and articles for professional publications and industry conferences • Maintain, enhance, apply, and train others in grid planning, interconnection, operations, equipment application, and relevant standards, orders, guidelines, and tariffs • Condition models and judge simulation output based on expected system and equipment capabilities • Estimate system and equipment parameters and provide feedback on questionable values • Support generator testing, model development, and validation to standards • Support studies initiatives for other MEPPI divisions/departments • Contribute to pre-specification for T&D equipment and key system design parameters • Follow MEPPI Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies

🎯 Requirements

• Engineering degree: BSEE, MS/ME, or PhD (or equivalent) in electrical engineering with emphasis on electric power engineering • Minimum 5 years of experience in the power systems studies consulting field, electric utility system planning field, or with a transmission and distribution manufacturer’s application engineering group, or equivalent education and experience • Advanced knowledge of electric power systems and equipment operation and control • Advanced organizational, interpersonal, presentation, communication, and technical writing skills • Ability to work in a team environment and on several projects simultaneously • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to change within a fast-paced business environment • Expertise and leadership with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ATP, EMTP, EMTP-RV, PSCAD, MATLAB, ASPEN, CAPE, CDEGS, PSLF, PSS/E, DigSILENT, DSA Tools, Power World, CYME, Synergi, etap, Milsoft, Plexos, PROMOD or MAPS, C, C++, Java, Perl, Python, and related software/modeling tools • Advanced knowledge of NESC, NERC, IEEE, IEC, and CIGRE industry standards and guides
